Goxhill steps up access as new footpath transforms Millennium Green

Comments Off on Goxhill steps up access as new footpath transforms Millennium Green

Visitors to Goxhill’s cherished Millennium Green will soon enjoy safer, smoother and more accessible journeys thanks to a brand-new footpath now under way – funded through a major community grant.

The project, led by The Goxhill Millennium Green Trust, marks a significant investment in one of the village’s most loved green spaces. A £14,500 Community Grant from North Lincolnshire Council is backing the installation, ensuring the area can be used and enjoyed all year round.

Cllr Christine Patterson, cabinet member for healthy lives and places, said: “The Millennium Green is a space that means so much to local people, and this new footpath will open it up to even more of the community.

“It will make the much-loved site easier to access for families, older residents, wheelchair users, pushchairs, and anyone who wants to enjoy the peaceful, natural surroundings, whatever the weather.

“Investments like this show how listening to residents and acting on what they value most continues to shape the improvements we deliver across North Lincolnshire and is a great example of how community groups and local partners can work together to bring positive change to the places people use and love.”

Community grants are part of the council’s ongoing mission to champion grassroots groups – the clubs, charities, and community heroes who bring neighbourhoods to life.

Since the fund launched in 2011, it has powered hundreds of projects across North Lincolnshire, breathing new energy into parks, play areas, village halls, sports clubs, arts initiatives and countless local spaces. These investments go straight into projects that residents say matter most.

A wide range of groups can tap into the fund: junior and youth organisations, charitable bodies, co-operatives, not-for-profit groups, and even individuals achieving excellence in sport, art, or culture. There’s also support available for venue hire, helping to keep treasured community hubs open, welcoming, and bursting with activity.

Find out how a grant could transform something in your community and help it thrive.
