Police were called and the road was closed for several hours while investigations were carried out. A lorry driver who ploughed into standing traffic on the A1 near Newark, killing a man, was distracted by his mobile phone.

Plans are in place for a new sports and leisure complex which aims to boost tourism in North Lincolnshire. The site earmarked for the major investment is the 560-acre Off-Road Centre in Kirton in Lindsey and planning approval is now being sought.
